Data Information
Anonymised samples are supplied to researchers with a basic minimum dataset of gender, age, type and grade of tumour and sub-type, where applicable and appropriate diagnostic information, eg. hormone receptor status.
Clinical follow up and outcome data will be available in the future.
Researchers wishing to access more detailed data (eg. Data on treatment and clinical outcome) are advised to apply to their local ethics committee and supply WCB with notification of approval. WCB will need to forward this information to the Wales MREC and receive approval prior to release of information
The wealth of information generated by individual projects will make the WCB data extremely useful in the future for bioinformatics data mining and could help inform health practice in Wales and beyond. Therefore, WCB is asking researchers to supply raw data back to the bank following publication and/or the protection of intellectual property rights.
